Nautilus

Grateful for the daily gift of eyesight and hands which allow me to sculpt glass.  Not many people are aware, but I experienced a horrible eye injury this past year. Everything is good now, however a few millimeters and things would have been very different. What are you thankful for?

Toucan Cabochon

Sometimes you just need a reminder to hold that big beak up high.. unless it is pouring down torrential rain from a hurricane.  Then by all means, stock up on bird seed and binge watch some Nestflix.

War Paint

Red symbolized war, strength and power.  White was a symbol of mourning, but could also represent peace.  Blue symbolized wisdom and confidence.  When I see the wild horses grazing along the Salt River, I wonder if their bloodlines trace back to the war horses of old.  A time long past, when bald eagles soared over the rocky banks and the loyal companions carried brave warriors into battle.

Gone Tubing

Last Summer, I discovered my life's passion...  Tubing.
Floating down the river without a care in the world.  Fish nibbling at my toes.  Soaking up the sun while slathered in SPF 110 sunscreen.  The adrenaline rush of spotting a snake stick in the water.  Imagine the exhilaration of riding the rapids while friends try to pelt each other with wet jumbo marshmallows.  One hasn't lived life until they have felt the soft mush of a river-soaked mallow bean them upside the head.  I'm currently in the process of finding sponsors to financially back my professional tubing career.... kind of like Nascar, but with sponsorship stickers on my tube, sunhat, sunglasses, and swimsuit.  Wish me luck!
 Mint anyone?

Down by the Seashore

An ocean themed, changeable cabochon can easily be place on a pendant, ring or bracelet setting.  Compatible with the Sunset Blvd and Jetage systems.  The ultra smooth back would also allow the cab to be set into a bezel or another metalworking project... because who wouldn't want a pet crab as a sidekick???  Or how about a baby sea turtle?

Death's Head Moth

Death's Head moth is also known as a European hawk moth (Acherontia atropos), which bears the markings resembling a human skull on its thorax.  The final design logistics and color choices came together after 3 months of revising sketches.  Once the decisions were made, the stringer prep time became the quick part of the process.  Flameworking the cabochon was an undertaking to say the least.  After 3.5 hours of work and approximately 1050 rotations with my left hand, the cabochon is complete.  At one point, I questioned my hand's strength to continue on.   Relieved once the final flame polish was complete and the cabochon entered the hot kiln.

Laser Vision Correction

Don't worry, these 3 mice are not blind.  They just had laser vision correction and will be wearing the dark glasses until their eyes adjust.  The prognosis is 20/20.
