Update: Dance of the Butterflies

An array of butterfly slider beads are in the kiln.
Looking forward to seeing their final colors in the morning.

Update:  a few beads from last night are pictured below.  Happy with how they turned out.

Tootie Fruity - The ASGB, Beads of Courage, ISGB 2018 Project

Started on my donation for the ASGB, Beads of Courage, ISGB 2018 Project. The theme challenge is food nourishes the body and is an important part of our lives. My project is titled "Tootie Fruity" and the completed display will have a variety of fruit beads placed below the silly Toucan including bananas, oranges, lemons and limes.  #beadsofcourage #beadstrong #mybeadsdogooddeeds

Harvest Time: Zombie Squirrel Eyeballs

The kids woke up bright and early, dawned their kevlar lined hazmat suits, and ventured outside to gather up some zombie squirrel eyeballs.  Like picking up pebbles on the beach, the plagued peepers just roll right out of their little eye sockets.  A bountiful harvest indeed!  After a quick rinse to remove the crusties, the petrified eyeballs are ready to be strung and worn in a Halloween jewelry design.  They measure approximately 10 mm in diameter.  Just message me on FB if you are interested in a set.

Lost Coast

Being a home body, I find pleasure in friends' stories of travel and adventure.  "Lost Coast" was inspired by such an occasion.  The picturesque photo captured by a friend set the scene.  Waves of vibrant blue crashing against the weather beaten shoreline.  Windswept cliffs dotted with delicate purple wildflowers which overlooked the torrent below.  The salty mist of ocean spray softening nature's canvas.  Earth, water, and wind in a ballet of sorts.

Mad Beatbox Skilz

Ever wonder why you get carded when purchasing spray paint? Well wonder no more! Meet Maurice, street artist and beatbox extraordinaire. Definitely not your typical church mouse.

Stocking up on "art" supplies.

Behind the Mask

Packing up a few more donations for Beads of Courage.   Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Late

The Mesa Arts Center Season Kickoff focused on literary themes.  I attempted to demonstrate sculptural work inspired by Alice in Wonderland.  It was a fun night filled with talented friends who love art and our community.

Class Project - August 23 & August 30

The last 2 weeks, students have focused on a project which involves a variety of techniques.  During Week 1, the lesson covered copper mesh, encasing, shaping, flame enameling, and layered dots.  The real fun came on Week 2 when students began to uncover the bead's core detail through cold working and create a highly polished window.  Enjoy!

Soda Lime Times - August 2016

Soda Lime Times this month focuses on lampwork jewelry.  The featured artist is the talented Irina Sergeeva. This issue is full of great photos and informative tutorials about jewelry.  Included is a Carry a Bead tutorial by yours truly.  Enjoy!

Tea with Hatter

In such a rush to take this photo that I didn't adjust the light properly to accurately pick up Hatter's little red bow tie... Honestly, I was lucky to get this shot before rabbit hopped away chattering something about being late?! It was like working with diva models on a photoshoot... not enough carrots and alfalfa in craft services table... blah blah blah.

Lime Zest

Fresh and tangy!  Some matched pairs for the studio's Beads of Courage donation box.  The perfect size for Carry a Bead pins.  Enjoy!

Yummy Rainbow

Lori Riley creates beautiful, vivid, high quality dichroic for COE 33, COE 96, COE 104, and COE 90.  Pictured below are just some of the color palette available from Riley Designs.  If you are interested in adding a bit of bling to your next glass project, visit her website:

Twister the Ferret

This little guy is trouble with a capital "T"!  His day consists of chasing, exploring, and reverse engineering everything in sight.  If he could talk, his favorite word would be, "mine".

Darth Thimble

Another thimble for Darth's sewing kit. Just in case a Darksider needs to mend a runner in a menacing black cape or stormtrooper stockings.

Soda Lime Times - March 2016

Happy Valentine's Day! Very excited for the midnight release of Soda Lime Times murrini issue. The featured artist is none other than the immensely talented Renee Wiggins. Looking forward to settling in for a good read and enjoying the eye candy by Kathryn Wreschinsky-Guler, Darryle Jadaa, Jolene Wolfe, and many more. Wally will be making his tutorial debut with Lori & Kim's Koi murrini stuck in between his teeth... what a silly goose! Enjoy

Boxing up a few BoC Donation Beads

Excited to deliver these in person to the Beads of Courage headquarters in Tucson.  Some haven't been photographed before today, others have been featured in bead magazines.  Hoping they bring smiles to some awesome kiddos!
