Favorite Five

Uncomplicated rounds in a line, no details to distract from the vibrant color combination.  A clean, smooth, straightforward statement of simplicity.  These just make me happy.  Hope they do the same for you!

Jelly Bean

Jelly Bean is a silly little parakeet who loves listening to music and chirping along.  His favorite song is Easy Street by Collapsible Hearts Band.

Brisk Wind

As a glass junky and packrat, it my self-appointed duty to add fantastic new colors to the extensive hoard of glass lying around the studio.  The color combination for Brisk Wind came to me while organizing the new shipment of Creation is Messy.  Loving the refreshingly crisp beads.

Nocturnal Struggle

Ever had a friend who stays up all night.  Just hanging around, catching bugs...  then in the morning they complain about the puffy bags and dark rings under their eyes.  The struggle is real.  #dontjudge #nocturnalstruggle

Five Fish

A super quick post of beads from the weekend.  The set feature an array of colorful fish.  Mixing up color combinations is a great way to observe reactions in the glass.  The spacers were made from EDP with a sprinkle of raku frit.  A fun addition to a silly design.  Enjoy!

My World Defined

Glass Geek (noun) \ˈgläs gēk\
: a person who is extremely interested in glass.
: a glass enthusiast who finds the medium exciting when others may view the art as boring.
The latest reaction of CiM's test color gives me butterflies. The initial color is a transparent Emerald, but a reaction occurs when paired with a dark ivory that awakens the nutty glass nerd inside. Kind of like the joker's guttural laugh rising from my soul, but I digress.... back to the cool reaction which creates a new band of color between the emerald and ivory glass. This is not a moody metallic line of demarcation one might expect, but a rich avocado halo of awesomeness. Just another reason for flameworkers who love green to be counting the days until CiM's new color release date.

Jupiter

Testing some silver rich glass for a friend.  Really happy with the results.

Kiss me, I'm Irish!

Guinea P. O'Malley is a lucky leprechaun piggy who on occasion enjoys a stout alfalfa ale.
May your St. Patrick's Day be filled with kisses.  And always remember, if you're enough lucky to be Irish, you're lucky enough!

More Rainbows

The proceeds from this set were donated to Beads of Courage in memory of Annemarie Frances.  Her smile could brighten any room.  Thankful for the legacy she leaves behind.

Ladybug Jamboree No. 2

Some color combinations just make me happy.  Creation is Messy's Poison Apple is one of my favorites.  With a splash of sunny yellow, clean white and bright red, the set is complete.

Happy Friday!

Added a swirl of dark pink to the rainbow.  Loving the updated bright color combo.

Evermore

A quick post before a new batch of CIM glass arrives for testing.  The lovely beads in Evermore feature Grumpy Bear, Cranberry, and Ginger.  Looking forward to playing with some lovely new Messy colors!

Brunch

It's not quite breakfast, it's not quite lunch... it's Brunch.  A cabochon demo from class last week, featuring a tiny frog and a yummy snack.  Enjoy!

Green with Envy

About five years ago, I had a lady refer to my beads as juvenile.  The comment made me pause for a moment.  My better-half insisted the lady was referring to the fact that my beads are "youthful, fun, and whimsical", instead of the correct definition "reflecting psychological or intellectual immaturity".  After the comment, I felt the need to branch out and experiment with more "grown up" designs.  Another part of me wanted to rebel, stomp my feet, and refuse to create anything which could be labeled as "mature".  If you have followed my blog throughout the years, you can tell which part of me has won in the design department.  Maybe I suffer from PPS (Peter Pan Syndrome) and I'm too full of sheer mischief for grown up designs.  So, for the readers who are suffering from PPS, this post should contain a warning of mature content... shield your eyes!

Urban Haute

A mix of turquoise, emerald, lemon, and pumpkin, accented by silvered ivory.  The simple color palette is one of my favorites.  Enjoy!

Bead Exchange - June 2014

The ASGB Bead Exchange theme for June is "dots".  I kicked around a few ideas before settling on the technicolor beauties above.  Looking forward to seeing all of the dotty designs on June 22nd at the Mesa Arts Center.  Come and join us!
